WHY ARE TERMITES CALLED WHITE ANTS?

     Termites are pale, soft-bodied insects and, like ants, they live in large, underground colonies. They also have a caste system to separate the different  functions of its members. But those are the only similarities.Termites have straight  antennae, are bent. An ant's body has a ' waist' between  the thorax and abdomen, but the termites does not. Ants and termites evolve along similar lines, but in fact, termites are more closely related to cockroachs than to ants.
